Clinical Supervisor
Valerie currently serves as the Clinical Supervisor for Alpharus Health Chicago Independence. She received her Masters of Arts in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She works with groups and individuals from diverse populations with various backgrounds. Throughout her career, Valerie has worked with clients who have experienced a wide range of mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and trauma. Valerie works with individuals, couples, and groups. She also works with clients who express specific concerns, such as substance abuse, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. Valerie’s approach is mostly a blend of person-centered theory that includes evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Valerie believes that an important part of the therapeutic relationship is to help the clients empower themselves. It is also to create an environment that is safe and supportive in order to promote healthy healing.
